Well, after days (if not weeks!) of anticipation, yesterday was the big day. I turned 25! And it finally felt like summer — warm and humid but with a nice breeze. We haven’t had much of a summer this year; it’s been gray and rainy and cold. Today, for example, I’m wearing a jacket. 😦 At least my birthday was nice!

And I have to say it was probably my healthiest birthday yet. It started with my first ever Green Monster.

I was nervous, but it was really good! My only regret was not adding more berries. You can’t see it, but there was a banana in there, too, so it mostly tasted like a banana smoothie. I had it with a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Crunch before heading off to the gym, and it was almost too much — too filling, that is.

After body sculpting and some QT with the elliptical, I met my friend Wendy, who treated me to lunch at the cutest little cafe.

We both got this salad, which was one of the specials of the day. It came with two oven-baked, parmesan crusted chicken filets and a honey mustard dressing.  A perfect summer lunch. 🙂 Afterward, we went to the frozen custard stand and basked in the heat in their giant Adirondacks chairs. (No photo … I had something in my teeth! Gross!)

Later that night, Kassia treated me to dinner at a local microbrewery.

Because it was a special occasion, we indulged in one of our favorite appetizers — crap dip.

We ordered two entrees we both wanted to try and split them — the caprese sandwich and a veggie burger. We got fries as a side for one and pasta salad as a side for the other.

My plate, with half of each sandwich and half of each side. I think we both agreed the caprese sandwich was our favorite.

We washed it all down with apricot wheat beer, brewed in-house, of course.

I had cotton candy; Kassia had pineapple.

I had an excellent birthday!
