St. Patrick's Day 2010
I’m Ashley, and I’m 26. I decided to start working out and living healthfully in May 2005, at the end of my junior year in college. I weighed just over 300 pounds. I am 5 feet, 8 inches tall. You can read all about my weight loss journey here.
Fashionably Fit is so named because fashion was the primary reason I started working out. I wanted to wear cute dresses and pretty blouses and skinny cropped pants. I’d been overweight since about age 5 and had tried to lose weight multiple times with little or no success. I was also a journalism major with delusions of grandeur and hopes of working at a fashion magazine, and I figured I should be able to wear the couture I wanted to write about. Fashion writers and editors are not typically 300-pound, size 24W women.
I’m a big fan of traveling, reading, writing, listening to country radio at top volume and, as you could have guessed, shopping. Since I started my weight loss journey, I have replaced my entire wardrobe at least twice over. I am no stranger to clearance racks.
I am originally from western Pennsylvania and currently reside in fabulously sunny Florida with my fiance, pound-puppy puggle and three cats. Since I lost weight, I’m constantly freezing, and Florida has provided a welcome respite from three-foot snow drifts, ice storms and miserably gray, gloomy days.
Please note that I have zero credentials in fitness or nutrition (and fashion for that matter). This blog is based on my own weight loss experiences, and what worked for me may not work for you. You should always consult a physician before beginning any diet or exercise regimen.

I *love* it.
You look amazing, but I bet the ‘feeling’ amazing is the best part. Thanks for taking us on this journey. 🙂

Hey Ashley! I wandered over here from Wendy’s blog, and had a similar journey to yours … in November of ’05 I started a weight-loss plan and lost 50 pounds. I gained a bit back in Germany (of course, ha) and am working on losing 15 now. I’m inspired again by reading about your experiences. Good for you!

Congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment! I’m with you, I wanted to be able to wear cute clothes. Plus sizes are never cute–or fashionable. How excited were you when you first were able to buy like a size 8 or 6? 🙂

You are far too kind — I am still stuck between a 10 and a 12! But even a 12 was a big deal for me because I never, ever wore a 12. I skipped from the junior’s side to the W sizes. An 8 is my ultimate goal, and I’d like to get there before our wedding (July 2011).

Hi,
I was wondering how much you would charge to advertise on your HEALTH related site. I am looking to place a small text based ad. If the price is affordable I may buy more than one over time. I usually ask for one line with just a few words. I prefer them at the top, middle, or bottom of the main content area of the site. However, I am sure we can work out placement.
Please let me know what you would charge me to place a link ad on your site. If you are interested let me know the price and if you prefer PayPal or a check?
Thanks

Wow. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments. I love your site. Although I have a “travelling foodie” blog, my day job is as a registered dietitian. I am so impressed by your weight loss and maintenance. It is no easy feat!!! I will be a frequent visitor to your blog.
